Ananth Srinivas

President

Ananth, a sixth-year PhD candidate in the Department of Earth & Environmental Science, specializes in paleontology. His research centers around the evolution of skull morphology, biomechanics, and material properties of limbless vertebrates, particularly snakes. He began his journey as a SASGov representative in the academic year 2018-2019. Later on, he secured two consecutive terms as the SASGov Vice President of Public Affairs, spanning from 2021 to 2023. During this time, he takes pride in revamping the SASGov website, enhancing user experience. Ananth also played a pivotal role in organizing the Penn Grad Talks in both 2022 and 2023. As the current SASGov President, his focus is on being a dedicated advocate for graduate students within the Arts & Sciences Division. Since 2022, he has actively contributed to the SAS Graduate Education Committee. Ananth's involvement extends to his role as the GAPSA Director of Public Relations, as well as his upcoming participation in the Graduate Council of Faculties, commencing in the upcoming Fall. Beyond student government, he's engaged with the Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) Philadelphia chapter and the Penn EES Pod for Unlearning Racism in Geosciences (URGE).
